For those who use or sell organic, environmentally friendly products, plants, or natural foods,
Greenmood has created the perfect way to display them. It’s a line of acoustic, double-tiered shelves made from reindeer moss, aluminum, and cork called Origami.
Manually harvested from Scandinavian forests by local producers, reindeer moss, or lichen, has long been noted for its exceptional ability to absorb sound in closed environments. Once gathered, the naturally white lichen is dyed a lush emerald green and preserved with bio-based materials that are non-toxic and hypoallergenic. This treatment ensures optimal durability of the display for years without the need for special maintenance.
The acoustic performance of the moss is enhanced by backing from another natural material – cork. Lightweight and resistant to fire and water, cork is a sustainable acoustic solution that doesn’t depend on high-energy processing. The final ingredient of Origami is aluminum, which generates a protective thin oxide coating that prevents its surface from rusting and is excellent at absorbing sound. It’s used to provide two black shelves at the top and bottom of the green moss panel. All of these materials are non-toxic and hypoallergenic.
Origami was created for Greenmood by French designer Jérémie Kuntzinger. Bold, clean, and aesthetically pleasing, it uses the rich natural texture of reindeer moss to set off whatever is on display. The shelves come in two sizes, the smaller – 20 cm by 15 cm by 20 cm – is ideal for showcasing jars and littler items. The larger – 20 cm by 15 cm by 40 cm – can accommodate tall bottles, aerosol spray cans, and more. The shelves can be hung individually or grouped together in tiers. Easy to construct and hang, they can be used in residential kitchens and baths and in offices and private work spaces as well as retail showrooms.
Using Origami shelves to display commercial products or for residential storage space adds a note of visual elegance, while its acoustic properties create a more comfortable and serene environment for shoppers, workers, visitors, and residents. The dense texture and fresh color of the moss on the back panel brings the natural world indoors, enhancing the shelf contents in a unique way. That’s why Origami is so effective at supporting a commitment to organic and health-oriented products as part of your merchandise and your life.
